Welcome, from the Cork Branch of I.F.C.A.

We are a small but active branch, providing the necessary supports to all foster carers in the area, with the help of I.F.C.A.

We meet on a regular basis, sharing our experiences, ideas and an empathic ear. In common with a lot of other I.F.C.A. Branches, we are always looking for new people to join and with the conference based here this year, we would expect there to be an upsurge in membership.

Every year, we try to provide an annual event for members children. In 2010, a Christmas party was held, which was very well attended and we held a Halloween Party in 2011, which was deemed a great success by all those present.

We are delighted to be hosting this years annual I.F.C.A.conference, at the Rochestown Park Hotel, the title for this year, being ‘Families Together’. We feel that the title this year is particularly relevant, with all foster carers looking toward the Referendum on the Rights of Children. This legislation is going to bring a multitude of challenges to everybody associated with the care of children, especially those of us who are in the front-line and all foster carers are going to need the help of those closest to them, to overcome all the issues raised from this.

All of us in Cork, are looking forward to meeting old friends and making new ones at the conference, see you all there!
